Speech about Plagiarism
Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb.
Hello, good afternoon everyone. Let me introduce myself. First, my name is
Wahyu Dika Akbar. I am a student of Gunadarma Karawaci University. I study the
major of English Literature since 3 years ago. I am so grateful to everyone who
lets me talk about important topic. The point of me stand here is to do a
speech about plagiarism. We have already heard a lot about it, but do we know
as much as we heard about it?
Since we have heard a
lot about what plagiarism is, we can simply define it as taking someone’s
words, creation, assigments, then we put our name as the creator of them. There
are so many definitions of it that we can search on the internet. It doesn’t
matter how many definitions we can search and read, but the most important
thing Is to never do that.
I want to talk about
this because it seems like plagiarism is not an issue that we don’t have to pay
attention to. We think it’s ok to do that, really ok. We don’t care about it.
Nobody talks so much about it because they don’t have the right to talk about
plagiarism if they do it too. I keep asking myself, if we always think
plagiarism is normal, when will we stop?
Education about
plagiarism is something that we rarely get since we study for so many years.
Since elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, even right now
in university. If we cheat on someone, our teacher will simply ground us.
Whether they are angry, or they give a punishment. They can give us bad grades.
Binus University will drop the students out if they cheat on exams, which is a
good thing. But, how many times we get education about plagiarism or cheating?
How many times we are informed about the types of plagiarism. And how many
times we are informed about the impact of plagiarism? Is it really a big
problem? Why is it a big problem? And so on.
Some people know that
plagiarism is a negative thing. Some people also try to not doing it. If they
don’t know so much about it, how could they know if what they do is plagiarism
or not? For example, a student has to do an assignment. They have to write a
paper with the information about science. They browse the internet to find an
information about it. Once they have found it, they start to write it down.
They want to stay away from plagiarism, then they read the information and
paraphrase it. This story sounds fine, right? We know they didn’t copy the
text. They change a little bit of structure and put it into their assignment.
So normal. But did you know that paraphrasing is one of the plagiarism types?
If you didn’t know, you’ve indirectly plagiarized other people until know. This
is why we need to know more about it. Now, you will start to know the other
types of plagiarism. I will explain a few types that I read from bowdoin.edu
website.
There is also Mosaic
Plagiarism. You might be so strange to hear it. When you are lazy to write your
own words, sometimes you find an information about a topic in so many sources.
I am sure you don’t want to be noticed for copying, that’s why you do this.
After you get the informations, you combine all of them and write it down to
your paper.
Do you know about self-plagiarism?
It sounds really crazy. I know what you are thinking right now. How can we
plagiarize ourselves? Yes, this kind of plagiarism exists. After studying for
so many years, there are so many papers that we’ve wrote. Sometimes the new
assigment in campus can be the same as the one we did in high school. Without
the permission of the lecturer or the teacher, we submit the high school
assignment to the campus. We have never thought that this is also a type of
plagiarism. In fact, it is. This is what we call a self-plagiarism.
The most intolerant type
of all is direct plagiarism. It is when we copy someone’s work in a very detail
way. Paste it to our assignment without mentioning them who wrote it. We want
to do our job quickly, we don’t want to take a lot of time to do it, and we
want an instant access to finish it. Why do we do it sometimes? Imagine if the
paper that we wrote for so many hours copied by our friend. We did it with
effort and they finished it in a few seconds, in a little time. They didn’t
need to think so much like we did. Do you think it is a good thing? I don’t
think so.
I remember when I was in
high school, I got an assigment. The teacher asked me to do a research about
the history of Indonesia on the internet. I had to write every details of it, the
colonization by Netherland, Japan, and also the independence. I thought I would
take a lot of time if I do it by myself. Then, I decided to find some
information about it, copy it, and paste it to my Microsoft Word. I spent at
least 15 minutes to do this assignment. I did not have to think much, it was so
easy.
On the day the
assignment was submitted, the teacher asked the students few questions about
the history of Indonesia. I heard my friends actively discussed all the things
they learned from the internet. All those knowledge sounded interesting. At
that time, I realized not only that I was a copycat, but I also skipped the
opportunity to join the good discussion with my friends.
I end my speech with a
positive notes for all of us that we should do a lot of research about the
facts of plagiarism. It is a negative thing that stops us from upgrading our
knowledge. One day we will regret doing it. Thank you so much for listening.
Sorry for all the mistakes. Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb

What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the act of taking credit for someone else's words or
ideas. It's an act of intellectual dishonesty, and it comes with serious
consequences. It violates university honor codes and can cause irreparable
damage to a person's reputation. A plagiarized assignment may lead to a failing
grade, a suspension, or an expulsion.
Clearly, the issue is not to be taken lightly. However, if you act with
academic integrity, it's also nothing to fear. The best way to avoid accidental
plagiarism is to understand the concept itself.
Types of Plagiarism
Some forms of plagiarism are obvious. Copying someone else's essay word
for word and submitting it as your own? Plagiarism, of course. Turning in an
essay you bought from a paper mill is, too. The issue is not always so blatant,
however. In addition to overt acts of academic dishonesty, other, more complex
forms of plagiarism nonetheless lead to similar consequences :
1. Direct plagiarism is the act of copying another person's work word
for word. Inserting a paragraph from a book or article into your essay, without
including attribution or quotation marks, is direct plagiarism. Paying someone
to write an essay for you and submitting the essay as your own work is also
direct plagiarism. If you commit direct plagiarism, you're likely to be caught
thanks to software and tools such as Turnitin.
2. Paraphrase plagiarism involves making a few changes (often
cosmetic) to someone else’s work, then passing it off as your own. Unless an
idea is common knowledge, you cannot include it in your paper without providing
a citation—even if you do not include any direct quotes.
3. "Mosaic" plagiarism is a combination of direct and
paraphrase plagiarism. This type involves tossing various words, phrases, and
sentences (some word for word, some paraphrased) into your essay without
providing quotation marks or attributions.
4. Accidental plagiarism
occurs when citations are missing or sources are cited incorrectly. Accidental
plagiarism is often the result of a disorganized research process and a
last-minute time crunch. Ultimately, if you fail to cite your sources
appropriately, you've committed plagiarism—even if you had every intention of
giving credit.
So, If you want to copy and paste, don’t forget to insert the credit of
source of the essay, the work even the opinion from other people (oral or
writer) because if you do plagiarism you will get punishment. There is a law of
plagiarism from Republic of Indonesia Law Article paragraph (2) “Lulusan
rupiah).”
Government regulation No. 17 of 2010
: has set sanctions for students who commit
acts of plagiarism. If proven to do plagiarism, a student will get the
following sanctions:
1. Rebuke
2. Written warning
3. Delays in granting some student rights
4. Cancellation of Value
5. Resignation from the status of student
6. Dismissal is not respectful of the
status of student
7. Cancellation of diploma if it has passed
the education process

Sejarah Public Speaking
PENGERTIAN
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Sejak kecil, manusia selalu berbicara.
mempengaruhi, mengubah opini, mengajar, mendidik, memberikan penjelasan
Semakin banyak kita berlatih maka semakin baik kita mempresentasikan ide kita
terhadap orang lain.
Mempengaruhi Lingkungan Sekitar
kenyataan hanya demi tercapainya sebuah tujuan. Khalayak bisa tertarik dan
terbujuk.
Tulisan Aristotles Retorika dibagi menjadi tiga buku. Buku pertama menjelaskan
retorika, menetapkan ruang lingkup retorika, serta membagi retorika menjadi
tiga jenis oratori (pidato). Buku kedua membahas tentang strategi-strategi
retoris yang terdiri dari karakter dan emosi. Buku ketiga berbicara tentang
Aristoteles membagi karakter menjadi tiga bagian. Untuk mencapai ethos, seorang
pembicara harus memiliki:
1) kepandaian, nalar yang baik (phronesis)
2) integritas atau moralitas (arete)
3) niat baik (eunoia).
memiliki potensi persuasif yangtinggi.

Demi melindungi seseorang
Saya tidak menyesal
Inilah satu-satunya jalan
Untuk melindungi dirimu
Dari para musuh yang akan merebutmu

Drowned by Love Lust
I've been alone for a decade
With a lonely step
I never except that, but at the end
There's no you beside me
Though time comes and passed until you can't resist
All things can't change myself
Only you in my niche
And only you can makes me fall in love and make myself free from this darkness
You are not just gorgeous
But you are my guardian angel
You can't be replaced by anyone, forever until the sun darken

Echoes in The Broken Arts
On the half-broken piano, the cadences sound into echoes
And I made a pinky-promise with you
Hey, have you always been that entranced by everything?
Without even sparing a doubt, so I decided to make some illusion
But if it's to paint your wistful illusion, I've already run out of colors
While trying to listen to your voice, I'm covering both ears
The alarm bell that disperses its scream
And the chords that someone has stained
From the heart that had devoured selfishness
The melody from this paint continues to distort
*This poem is made by me and my bestfriend Fahmi and inspired by Japan music called "Anti-clockwise". Thank you so much for helping me to make this poem.

Dream or Reality
I imagine your smile
When you embraced me, held me, cradle me softly
If only we can stop the time
Before the battle cries out and gunshots roar
Your voice resounds
A wave that assures me "everything is going to be alright"
Your back turned away from me, as if saying goodbye
Taking away my love, I am no longer completed
Ah, I can hear the waves from my mind
I feel your presence in nothing
Come back
Which one is dream, which one is reality?

Tourism Interview #1 : TOUR TRAVEL BUREAU
Haji dan Umrah Ulul Albab
PT JAYA SAFARI TOURS
Gerbang Sinai Raya Islamic
Village, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang.
Ulul Albab Group dibentuk oleh Drs. H. Yana Hadiansyah Yasin yang
berdiri tahun 2003 yang mana baru menawarkan paket haji saja. Kemudian pada
tahun 2014, Ulul Albab Group bekerja sama dengan JAS (Jaya Safari Tour) untuk
melayani perjalanan umrah.

Tourism Experience #2 - Kota Tua
![]() |
| Kota Tua |

1. Media use “the language of persuasion.” All media messages try to persuade us to believe or do something . News, documentary films, and nonfiction books all claim to be telling the truth. Advertising tries to get us to buy products. Novels and TV dramas go to great lengths to appear realistic. To do this, they use specific techniques (like flattery, repetition, fear, and humor) we call “the language of persuasion.”
Advertising tries to get us to buy products. This is actually the important thing in this advertising. This advertising try to believe us to make us buy that. This concept is important because the company want to impress the consumer to buy their product. Here are one example
PIC : https://www.google.com/search?q=SK2+ADS&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi3ov_un53RAhWIuY8KHY0PBnQQ_AUICCgB&biw=1366&bih=657#tbm=isch&q=sk2+advertisement&imgrc=1tTcNmtIaNMIeM%3A
This ad is probably targeting women and this ad impress buyer to buy their product because this product can make you look younger. You can see in this ads they are using words ‘’Age doesn’t matter”
2. Media construct fantasy worlds. While fantasy can be pleasurable and entertaining , it can also be harmful. Movies,TV show ,and music videos sometimes inspire people to do things that are unwise,anti-social,or even dangerous. At other times, media can inspire our imagination. Advertising constructs a fantasy world where all problems can be solved with a purchase . Media literacy helps people to recognize fantasy and constructively integrate it with reality.
if you have this you are rich, if you use this you cool. So this advertising make one thought to make their product be bought. And then buyer think when they are have or buy that they can be cool, or something. Here are one example
PIC : https://medialiteracyproject.org/sites/default/files/images/Jose-Cuervo-Fantasy-Team/index.jpgbiw=1366&bih=657#tbm=isch&q=jose+cuervo+ads&imgrc=gJ8hIxcBoH0XwM%3A
If a man drinks Jose Cuervo, they’re going to be surronded by many thin, attractive women. And its giving consumers the impression that by drinking this product, they’re bound to be popular and have a good night.
3. Media messages contain “texts” and “subtexts.
” The text is the actual words, pictures and/or sounds in a media message . The subtext is the hidden and underlying meaning of the message.
On the surface, advertisements know exactly what is needed to attract their target audience; most often through uplifting background music, bright colours and attractive. However, with these messages comes the ugly truth of media advertising. In many cases, a succesful commercial advertisement is created when an ad effectively makes the custumer feels insecure and incomplete without the product.

TEXT
-Using this CoverGirl product will make your skin flawless.
-The “new formula” blends with your natural skin tone to make your beauty appear natural.
-This product will help even out your skin tone.
-Nobody will realize that you are wearing makeup
SUBTEXT
-Your skin will remain flawed if you don’t use this product.
-Your skin is currently uneven ,and such skin tone is considered unattractive.
-You personally need to purchase this product in order to look beautiful.
-If you don’t purchase this product , you are not going to be beautiful and everyone will notice your uneven skin tone;you will not “fit in”.
4. Media messages can be manipulated to enhance emotional impact.
Movies and TV shows use a variety of filmic techniques (like camera angles, framing, reaction shots, quick cuts, special effects, lighting tricks, music, and sound effects) to reinforce the messages in the script. Dramatic graphic design can do the same for magazine ads or websites. The stronger media is when they are involve feels and our mind. This ads use this techniques and trying to transfer that feels (family, gender) for their product.
VID : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reHGilRhhlk
This tampon commercial illustrates how ads manipulatedwomen during a time that all females experience: their period. Every woman needs a way of managing their menstrual cycle for their health and hygiene, and these ads abuse this feminine need in a mischievous way. They are implying that having your period is a burden on all women, and they will not be able to be themselves without using this product. Although the menstrual cycle can be a hassle, these advertisment says “find out why Playtex Sport Super beat Tampax Pearl Super overall”, they are making the other brand inferior and less hygienic, even though both brands are created and accurately help women during their period
5. Media effects are complex.
Media messages directly influence us as individuals , but they also affect our families and friends, our communities, and our society. So some media effects are indirect. We must consider both direct and indirect effects to understand media’s true influence
The media affects the way act and think. It has a profound influece on the behavior of the audience. It can affects the physical self, the emotions, the psychological aspect, and even the spiritual stand of many people.
Do you feel like attemping a stunt from a movie?
Do you base your fashion on what you see the celebrities are waring?
Do you copy the hairstyle of your favorite famous personalities?
Have you ever attempted to walk model-like in an attempt to imitate those ramp models in fashion shows?
If you answered yes to any of these question, then it is accepting the influence on media in your life. However, it is important to dwell on the negative influences of media because these can change the dynamics of the society for the worse.
6. Media convey ideological and value messages. Ideology and values are usually conveyed in the subtext. Two examples include news report (besides covering an issue or event, news reports often reinforce assumptions about power and authority) and advertisements ( besides selling particular products, advertisement almost always promote the values of a consumer society.
The examples obviously apple are the only company making iPads, iPhones and Machintosh computers, but this does not account for other computer, smartphone and tablet manufacturers who make similarly (or even better) specified devices. Not that you would ever know that from reading a single item of web content produced by the Apple marketing team
